We all know the things that we shouldn’t eat for healthy teeth, but what about things that are actually good for us? Here are a few foods that can help make your teeth healthier as you eat them!
Cheese. Cheese and dairy products, in general, are a great source of Calcium, which your body needs to build strong bones and strengthen tooth enamel.
Spinach. High fiber foods, like spinach, are great for teeth thanks to the chewing process. As you chew, your body naturally produces saliva, which is used to eliminate leftover food particles and bacteria. Plus, high fiber foods tend to have a rough texture so as you chew the food rubs up against your teeth and scrubs them, similar to a toothbrush!
Strawberries and oranges. Eaten in moderation, fruit can be good for teeth, especially strawberries and oranges. Strawberries contain Malic Acid a natural enamel whitener and oranges are a great source of Vitamin C, which helps protect gums from bacterial infection and cell damage.
Salmon. This super fish has tons of health benefits, including high levels of Calcium and Vitamin D, which is needed for strong, healthy teeth.
And finally we know you know it, but we can’t say it enough – drink a lot of water. Your body will thank you.
Unfortunately, eating the right foods doesn’t take the place of good oral hygiene. So remember to brush and floss at least twice a day and come see us every 6 months!
