As we head into the New Year, it’s common to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. From losing weight to working out, there are lots of common ones that tend to go away as quickly as we thought them up. One resolution that we highly recommend you keep is the resolution to make dental care a priority in 2018. Here are a few refresher tips to help you get started.
Regular checkups are essential. Yes, they are. No ifs, ands, or buts. Besides, we like to think at Jackson dental that we make the process a lot more fun than most offices while giving you great patient-centered care. So go ahead and give us a call and get on our schedule. Then 6 months after that plan on seeing us again. Then in another 6 months come back in. See where we are going with this?
Thorough brushing. We don’t mean just rubbing the toothbrush on there for a while. Instead go back to basics and follow the American Dental Association’s recommendation of brushing at minimum twice a day for two minutes each time. Not sure how long two minutes is? It’s about the length of the Elvis song “All Shook Up.”
Floss at least once a day, every day to help to prevent cavities and gum disease.
Replace those toothbrushes. We know it’s not the most exciting thing but if it’s been three months or more since you replaced your toothbrush, then walk directly to your Target or Wal-Mart list and write down new toothbrush.
Protecting your teeth now with proper dental care will save you time, money and possibly pain in the future. So make 2018 the year your teeth are a priority!
